Best Method for Hard Boiled Eggs

Perfect hard-boiled eggs might seem simple, but getting them just right—easy to peel, with tender whites and creamy yolks—can be tricky. After testing several methods, I’ve found the one that delivers consistent results every time. Whether you’re meal prepping, making deviled eggs or egg salad, or just want a quick snack, this is the best method for hard boiled eggs to give you amazing results every time.

Add some Baking Soda to the water and bring to a boil.

Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water. You may want to use a wire basket to lower the eggs so that you aren’t splashed by boiling water.

Boil for 15 minutes. This is what I prefer. Less if you want a softer yolk.

Empty the hot water. Shake the pan to crack the egg shells.

Cover with an ice water bath and wait at least 5 minutes.

Now you can peel the eggs. Start peeling at the smaller rounded end where the shell already has more separation from the egg. Run the egg under water to rinse off the loose pieces of shell and pat dry with a paper towel.

Now your eggs are ready to use as you please. This is definitely the best method for hard boiled eggs that I’ve found. Make sure the boiled eggs are refrigerated within two hours. Hard boiled eggs do last longer (7 days) in the refrigerator if they are unpeeled.
