How To Add A Little Romance To A Busy Life

Modern life doesn’t always feel very romantic, does it? Between work, chores, deadlines, self-care (if possible!), and so much more, there’s hardly any time at all, and that means romance can often fall to the bottom of your to-do list. But the thing is that romance doesn’t have to be grand or time-consuming, and in fact, the smaller, more thoughtful moments are the ones that often mean the most.

In other words, you don’t need candlelit dinners every night or extravagant weekend getaways to keep the spark alive – sometimes it’s just about finding the little ways to tell each other you care. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to add a little romance to a busy life.

Make The Most Out Of The Ordinary

You probably already have moments in your day where you’re together, even if it’s just in passing – it could be your morning coffee, during the commute, or perhaps just before bed, for example. The point is, these everyday moments are the ideal time for a bit of romance, no matter how small it might be.

You could say something kind, give a compliment, and so on, and it all adds up. Or how about sharing something funny that happened that day? If you make a point of communicating, even if it’s just for a few minutes, you’ll find that your relationship stays strong. Remember, romance isn’t about what you do exactly, it’s about how you feel, so if you feel good and happy, that’s a positive thing.

Surprises Can Be Good

When life is busy, surprises become even more important because they make people pause (which can be exactly what they need). Plus, they remind your partner that they’re on your mind, even when you’re really busy, which says a lot. And again, it doesn’t have to be big – something as simple as texting them a photo that made you smile or picking up their favourite snack on the way home definitely counts.

Every now and then, a small, unexpected gesture goes a long way – a good example is arranging a flower delivery on just an ordinary day because you knew they’d like it, rather than because it was a birthday or anniversary. You don’t need a reason to be romantic, and that’s what makes it even more special and something like that can brighten their whole day.

Make Time For Them

Big blocks of time might be hard to find, but tiny pockets here and there are something you can probably arrange. And you can do so much even with limited time – take a quick walk together after dinner, for example, or take ten minutes to watch a show you both love. What about chatting while the kettle’s boiling? You really don’t need hours and hours, but when you do have time, it’s best to make the most of it.

And of course, on the rare occasion you get a free evening at the same time, it’s wise to use it well. Put the phones away, get some food delivered, light some candles, and just enjoy each other’s company – it can make such a difference.
